Email Footprinting

Email tracking or footprinting is used to monitor the delivery of emails to an intended recipient. Track emails to gather information about a target recipient.

In this post I will be teaching how to analyze and trace an email with its full headers using Messageheader.

STEP START

STEP 1 → Open the email you want to check the headers for.

STEP 2 → Copy the headers

STEP 3 → Paste the headers on https://toolbox.googleapps.com/apps/messageheader/

STEP 4 → Click Analyze the header above

STEP END

VIEW YOUR FULL HEADERS EMAIL ON GMAIL

1. Open the email you want to check the headers for.
2. Click More, then Show original.

The headers will show in a new window, including fields like authentication results. To get the full message header, click Download original.

VIEW YOUR FULL HEADERS EMAIL ON HOTMAIL

1. Click Inbox.
2. Right-click the email you want to see the headers for.
3. Click View Message Source.

The headers will show in a new window.

VIEW YOUR FULL HEADERS EMAIL ON YAHOO! MAIL

1. Select the email you want to see the headers for.
2. Click More, then View Raw Message.

The headers will show in a new window.

VIEW YOUR FULL HEADERS EMAIL ON APPLE MAIL

1. Open the email you want to see the headers for.
2. Click View, Then Message, Then All Headers.

The headers will show in the window below your inbox.

VIEW YOUR FULL HEADERS EMAIL ON OUTLOOK

1. Open the email you want to see the headers for.
2. Click File, Then Properties.

The headers will show in the “Internet headers” box.
